Delford Ray Jacobs

Delford Ray Jacobs, 84, of Gastonia, passed away March 10, 2025, at his home.

He was born July 9, 1940, in Sampson County, NC, to the late Jessie M. and Oda Remelle Jacobs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 46 years, Debra Nichols Jacobs; and a brother, Norman Jacobs.

Ray served honorably in the United States Army as a mechanic. He was the owner and operator of D&R Auto Service. He was a very Godly man who loved his family fiercely. He taught himself to play the guitar when he was in his 70s. That lead to a collection of over 40 various stringed instruments. His electric guitar was his daily player.

Survivors include his Fur Baby, Happy; children, Donette Dannelley and wife Alicia Foster, Denise Tomberlin and husband Randy, and Robert Sacco and wife Terri; grandchildren, Robert Jacobs, Debralee Tomberlin, Steven Tomberlin and wife Kylie, Cole Tomberlin, and Mark Tomberlin and wife Jackie; brother, Leon Jacobs; and a sister, Elaine Jacobs.

A gathering of friends and family to remember Ray will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025, 2:00-4:00 pm, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.
