Deborah Leigh Cowan, age 71, of Charlotte passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024. She was born in Asheville, N.C., daughter of the late Wallace and Nancy Cowan. She graduated from South Mecklenburg High School and received a Bachelor of Music degree from Winthrop University.
Debby worked as a Finance Analyst for Bank of America for 37 years. When she left the bank she was a Vice President and Senior Project Consultant for Customer Profitability. After working at the bank she continued to do consulting work for businesses as a project manager. Debby loved singing and had a beautiful soprano voice. She sang solos and sang with various church groups most of her life. Debby was a member of Life Church Charlotte. She directed several singing groups and was the project manager for a big event (Solstice, a Christmas dinner theater) for several years. Debby loved to take trips to New York to see Broadway shows. She loved taking trips to the beach. She was an avid reader. Debby loved the Lord and put her faith and trust in Him daily. She loved her extended family. Their pictures covered the walls and shelves of her home.
Debby is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Andy Holland, her nieces and nephews, Jami Johnson (Kyle), Matthew Holland (Elizabeth), Michael Holland (Tembre) and Kati Long (Micah) and her twelve great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Wallace Edwin Cowan, Jr. (Eddie).
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at First Baptist Church, Mount Holly. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. at the church.
