David Propst

Edgar David Propst, Jr., 54, known to everyone simply as David, passed away in his hometown of Gastonia, North Carolina, on Saturday, October 31, 2026. In perfectly ironic David fashion, he made his exit on Halloween-his absolute favorite holiday.

Born in Gastonia on June 12, 1972, to Edgar Propst, Sr. and the late Renee Tyner, David spent his life in Gastonia and the surrounding areas. A hardworking man of many trades, he lived entirely on his own terms. He was happiest feeling the rumble of his Harley-Davidson, out hunting and fishing, or working with his hands on woodworking projects. He also had a quieter side, taking great pride in tending to his garden.

David was fiercely protective, and everyone who knew him lived by one simple rule: you do not mess with his family. He loved shooting a good game of pool and especially treasured the lively energy, laughter, and chaos whenever his grandkids came around.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Renee Tynner, and his sister, Michelle Peterson.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa Propst; his father, Edgar Propst, Sr. (Tammi) ; his brothers, Jeromy and Josh; his six children,Elizabeth, Brittney, Justin, David, Breann, and Micheal; and his ten cherished grandchildren.

A celebration of David's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in David's memory to PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network) at pancan.org/donate or pancan.org/donate-honor to support pancreatic cancer research.
