David Michael "Mike" Harvell, 70, of Gastonia, passed away December 7, 2020 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, NC.
He was born May 6, 1950 in Gaston County, NC to the late Clarence Harding Harvell and Mary Thelma Shiris Harvell.
Mike was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Gastonia, NC. He was employed with Homelite for 30 years prior to his retirement.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Harvell and great-grandson, Jaxon Dale Harvell.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of over 30 years, Jean T. Harvell; a son, Chris Harvell and wife Amy, step-children, Chris Marlowe and wife Kelly, Jennifer White and husband Mike, and Kimberly Hamm and husband Demetrius; grandchildren, Brandon David and fiancée Madison, Heather Gladden, Nicholas David and wife Emma, Brooklyn Harvell, Kellie Pepper and husband Chance, Trystan Marlowe, Olivia Ashley, Wyatt Marlowe, Sydney Greene, Skylar Greene, and Aaron Greene; great-grandchildren, Kwon Brice, Lilliana Limberger, Chloe Pepper, and Iverleigh David; and special friends for many years, Kay and Gary Grant.
Mike's body will lie in state at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia on Friday, December 11 between the hours of 9:00 am and 12:00 pm. The family will not be present.
A graveside service, officiated by Rev. Carolyn Sears, will be held Friday, December 11 at 2:00 pm at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia. Guests are asked to use hand sanitizer, wear masks, and social distance.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of his great-grandson, Jaxon Dale Harvell, to Levine-Dickson Children's Hospital, 1000 Blythe Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203 or Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Gift Processing Administrator, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172.
