David Heyward Martin

David Heyward Martin, 72, of Stanley, passed away September 3, 2015 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. He was born January 16, 1943 in Andrews, NC, the son of the late Garland and Virginia Martin. David was a member of First Baptist Church in Stanley and New Hope Baptist Church in Dobson. He retired from KnitCraft, Incorporated in Belmont after 42 years of service. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Sandra Mitchell Martin of the home; children and their spouses, David Michael Martin and wife, Leslie of Lincolnton, Scotty Wayne Coe and wife, Donna of Dobson, Lisa Martin Curtis and husband, Mark of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Kayla Coe Chandler and husband, Tyler, David Michael Martin, Jr., Lindsey Brook Curtis, Tiffany Ann Coe and brother Robert Martin of Gastonia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William "Bill" Martin. A memorial service will be held 4 pm Sunday at Stanley First Baptist Church - 409 Old Mt. Holly Rd., Stanley, officiated by the Revs. Jason Ballard and Scotty Coe. A memorial service will be held 2-4pm on Monday at New Hope Baptist Church, 818 Prison Camp Rd. Dobson, officiated by the Rev. Trent Lyons. The family will receive friends 2 - 4 pm prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stanley First Baptist Church - 409 Old Mt. Holly Rd., Stanley, NC 28164 or New Hope Baptist Church - 818 Prison Camp Rd., Dobson, NC 27017 or of donor's choice. Flowers accepted.
