David Bruce Heffner

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Bruce Heffner, who left this world on September 13, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on June 4, 1942, in Gastonia, NC, David grew up with a love for life that stayed with him through his years.

David was not just a hard worker; he was also a man who knew how to enjoy life. Whether it was casting a line on a fishing trip or hitting the slot machines for some fun, David had a knack for finding enjoyment in the little things. He had a passion for traveling and cherished the moments spent on cruises, fully embracing the adventures that came his way, except for the beach; that wasn't quite his scene!

David is survived by his significant other, of 26 years, Susan St. George; his two daughters, Amy Heffner Rutherford and Teresa Cardwell (Kelly); brother, Joe Heffner; grandchild, Morgan Lovett (Trae); like children to him, Pam Minton, Tim Jones, and Tina Garrett, like grandchildren to him, Scott Pulliam, Michael Pulliam, Ashley Baird, Hunter Jones, and Megan Brookover; and 8 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Ellen Heffner; son, Randall Heffner; sister, Elise Hayes; brothers, Boyd and Jake Heffner; and sister in law, Myrtle Heffner.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will remember him for his warm spirit, laughter, and love of life.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate David's life during the funeral service, which will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM for those who wish to pay their respects.

David will be laid to rest at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City, NC.
