Darrel Roger Lahrmer, 83, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026. Born on March 26, 1942, in Oak Hill, Ohio. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who spent many years working as a Pressman and in maintenance at Wallace Computer Service.
Darrel was a man of simple pleasures. He had a notoriously sweet tooth, often indulging in his favorite treats-Little Debbie cakes, and listening to his favorite old classic country and bluegrass music. He loved gathering with friends and family, his grandchildren holding a special place in his heart. He also enjoyed eating out with Ruby, and he could always be found cheering on his favorite drivers as he watched NASCAR. Darrel also had a knack for seeking out treasures at flea markets and antique stores, always on the hunt for the next big find, filling his home with cherished pieces that told stories of their own. He love to read and always read the newspaper front to back.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Beverly Corn (Kenny); son, Danny Smart (Sunni); grandchildren, Makensi Corn, Amanda Nalley (Eric), and Seth Smart (Katie); great grandchildren, Destiny Huffman, Hunter Nalley (Kiley), Kaleb Nalley, Koe Smart and Leland Smart; 3 great grandchildren; his mate of 22 years, Ruby Bowman Lahrmer; who will cherish his memory and the many wonderful moments they shared.
Friends and family are invited to join us for a celebration of Darrel's life, which will be held 3:00 pm on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, Gastonia, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest at Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC. We will come together to remember the good times, share stories, and honor a man who brought joy to those around him.
Darrel Lahrmer will be missed dearly but remembered with smiles and laughter by all who were blessed enough to know him.
