Daniel Alexander Splawn, Sr., 86, of Dallas, passed away May 17, 2017 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.
He was born August 6, 1930, a native of Gaston County, the son of the late Horace and Onie Mae Poteat Splawn.
Daniel was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Gastonia and the VFW. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He was a very hard worker and a hero to his family.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia Splawn; son, Daniel Splawn, Jr. and wife, Susan; daughter, Mona West and husband, Mitchell; grandchildren, Audrey and husband, Bryan; Katie and husband, David; Bill; Heather and husband, Charlie; Mitchell; Daniel and great-grandchildren, Beau, Ellie and Charlie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Lee Splawn; and nine brothers and sisters.
A memorial service, officiated by the Rev. Fr. Matthew Buettner will be held 10 am Friday, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 708 St Michaels Ln, Gastonia.
The family will receive friends, 6 – 8 pm Thursday at Greene Funeral Service – West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd., Gastonia.
Inurnment will be private.
Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
