Dan Michaels

Dan Lewis Michaels, 71, of Gastonia, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at his residence.

He was born January 13, 1951, in Gaston County, NC to the late Ralph and Ezelee "Ebb" Ferguson Michaels.

A week ago, Saturday, Dan said that God had started the paperwork for him.  On Thursday, August 25, 2022, God completed that paperwork and Dan has entered Glory.  Dan served honorably in the United States Marine Corp, where he also served in Vietnam.  He was a loving husband, father, and the greatest pawpaw ever.

His laughter he brought to his family will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George and Alice Falls Michaels; maternal grandparents, Ernest Ferguson and Ethel Bostic Ferguson; brother, Joe Michaels; sister-in-law, Donna Michaels; and brother-in-law, Glenn Leigh.

Dan is survived by his wife, Lisa Michaels; son, Jason Michaels and wife Tina; daughters, Samantha Stroupe, and Jada Criswell and husband Daniel; brother, Ralph Y. Michaels and wife, Janet; sisters, Pat Leigh, and Sue McMillan and husband Ray; five grandchildren, Emma Michaels, Shadie Marlow, Marlayna Proto, Liberty Bone, and Meyer Criswell; several loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and special friends, Beth Carson, Andy Baker, Larry Morris, Rev. Ralph Foster, and Rev. Gary Gregg and wife Diane.

Services for Dan will be scheduled at a later date.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to the staff of Charlotte Hospice for the excellent care they provided.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Charlotte Palliative Care and Hospice, 7600 Little Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28226.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematory, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC.
