Daisy Smith Herron

Daisy Smith Herron , 77, of Gastonia, went home to be with the Lord December 7, 2014 at her residence. She was born October 1, 1937 in Catawba County, daughter of the late, Roy Ralpherd Smith and Vertie Scronce Smith. Daisy was a member of Alexander Memorial Baptist Church in Belmont. She is survived by sons, Robert N. Sherman of Goose Creek, SC and Donnie Herron of Hickory; daughters, Debbie Aileen Holder, Shirley McIntire and Georgia Ann Funderburk all of Gastonia; sister, Joyce May Punch of Newton; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren and special friends, Vivian Davis and Randy Funderburk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Johnnie Macke Herron; brothers, Bennit, John William, Ralpherd and Adolphus Colman Smith and sister, Georgia Ann Jordan. A funeral service will be held 3 pm Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Randy Funderburk. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Armstrong Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice - PO Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054 or American Cancer Society - 1901 Brunswick Ave., Suite 100. Charlotte, NC 28207. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
