Cynthia Christopher Shannon, born on July 29, 1953, in Gaston County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Alan, Randy, and Chris Wright, who will cherish her memory and the love she unconditionally provided throughout their lives.

Cynthia's journey through life, though marked by challenges, was filled with fond moments and passions. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, she dedicated herself to caring for others in nursing homes, touching many lives with her kindness and compassion. Her warmth extended beyond her profession, as she drew joy from the simple pleasures in life.

She had a special affinity for the mountains, relishing trips where she could breathe in the fresh air and appreciate the beauty of nature. Cynthia was also an avid bird watcher, often finding solace in the quiet moments spent observing the fluttering wings of her feathered friends. A true fan of classic television, she enjoyed unwinding with episodes of "Gunsmoke," and those who knew her will fondly remember her recounting favorite scenes and characters.

In loving remembrance, a celebration of her life will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Sunnyside Baptist Church 1631 Tryon Courthouse Road Bessemer City, officiated by Pastor Nick Seaman. All who knew and loved Cynthia can come together to celebrate her life, share stories, and find comfort in one another's presence. As they gather to reflect on the cherished memories of her life, her essence will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and she will be deeply missed.

Cynthia is survived by her sons, Alan Wright (Mishael), Randy Wright, Chris Wright; fur baby Earl; brother, Bobby Christopher (Hongyan Zhang), sisters, Janet Shonkwiler (Steve), Jewel Spataro; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; special caregiver, Brigette Inman.

Cynthia was preceded in death by: her parents, Robert and Willie Mae Darnell Christopher; brother, David Christopher.

Rest in peace, dear Cynthia. Your legacy of love and kindness will forever remain.
