"Cookie" Frankie Carroll

October 16, 1947 — September 5, 2021

Frankie Ruth "Cookie" Wilbanks Carroll of Belmont, NC passed away peacefully in Gastonia on Sunday, September 5, 2021.

Daughter of the late Rev. Doc and Lillian Wilbanks of Greenville, SC, she was born October 16, 1947.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Eddie Wilbanks, and sister Betty Wilbanks Davis.

Cookie graduated Bessemer City High School in 1965.

She was a long-standing member of Bright Light Baptist Church in Bessemer City, and a current member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Dallas.

Cookie was born premature and was also a Polio survivor.

She overcame those challenges to raise her three children, providing for them on her own as a single mother for several years.

"Maw Maw" Cookie loved music, especially Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, and saw both of them in concert in recent years.

She was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, and made sure you knew.

Most of all, she loved Jesus, and she loved her family, including her faithful doggie companion, Tater.

Left to cherish Mrs. Carroll's memories are her children, Dale Wilbanks, Monica Putnam and Jonathan Putnam and their families; dear family friend, Shannon Wagner; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two nephews; two nieces; and her loving chihuahua Tater.

The family would like to thank the staff of Senior TLC for their compassion, care, and professionalism in helping Mom live out her life with dignity.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital in her memory.
