**Obituary for Clyde Steven Black (Hippie Steve)**
Clyde Steven Black, affectionately known as Hippie Steve, left us all too soon on March 27, 2025. Born on January 19, 1957, son of the late Orville and Bessie Black in North Carolina.
Steve lived a life full of joy and passion. For many years, he dedicated himself as an automotive technician, working at Toyota dealerships that stretched from Shelby to Gastonia.
Steve is remembered by his loving wife, Gina, with whom he shared 34 wonderful years, and his cherished son, Joshua McCurry. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Kirby, Tomi Black, Geraldine Helton, and Lorene Glaze, along with brothers Bobby, Wayne, and Charles Black, and many beloved nieces and nephews. His mother-in-law, Virginia McCurry, and his special son Jeff Blanchard, whom he loved like his own, will also hold his memory dear.
Those who knew Steve will remember his infectious smile and his inability to say a bad word about anyone. He was the kindest and most loving person, always ready to share a laugh and enjoy life with friends, whether it was riding Harleys or gathering around the grill. Steve will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
Steve fought a brave battle with Charcot foot and Alzheimer's, never losing that spark of warmth and kindness that made him who he was.
There will be no formal services, but a celebration of life will take place at a later date, where we can all come together and share our favorite Steve stories. Until then, in Steve's honor we ask every time you light a grill, crank your Harley or pop a top, you smile as you think of him.
A special Thank you to Niece Dolores Pearson and Penny Ledford from Carolina Caring for their love and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Alzheimer's Association - Western Carolina Chapter at 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28215.
