Clinton Odell Bates

Gastonia, NC - Clinton Odell Bates, 76, of Gastonia, passed away April 29, 2014 at his residence. He was born, March 28, 1938 in Macon County, son of the late, Robert Henry and Viola Watts Bates. Clinton was an avid Harley rider and car enthusiast. He is survived by his significant other, JoAnne McLean, daughter, Tara "Cassie" Conner and husband, Seth; sister, Eunice Reynolds and husband, Ray; brother, Steven Bates; niece, Phyllis Bradley and nephew, Joe Bradley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Chuck Bates and sister, Lori Fulton. A memorial service will be held 5 pm on Thursday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by, Pastor Lewis Gunn. Visitation will be 4 - 5 pm on Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital - PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
