Clifford Neal Cochran

June 16, 1950 — June 20, 2024

Clifford Neal Cochran Jr., a proud veteran, a Republican through and through, has left us at the age of 74.

Born on June 16, 1950, to the late Clifford Cochran Sr. and the late Ruth Yandle, in Valdese, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jolene Cochran.

Clifford passed away on June 20, 2024, at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, NC. He was a hardworking supervisor in the tool manufacturing industry, boasting an Associate's Degree and reaching the rank of E-5 during his time in the Army.

Clifford, or "Butch" as he was known to close friends, had a zest for life that was contagious. He adored singing, riding in convertibles with the top down, cooking, and cherished his regular trips to the grocery store. A fervent coffee drinker, he could often be found with a cup in hand, he entertained his stories and views on politics with anyone willing to listen. He loved all his animals especially his cat little buddy.


His surviving relatives including the love of his life, of 34 years, Janet; his children, Julius "Neal" Cochran wife Jana, Scottie Cochran wife Aretha, Cheryl Peek husband Chris, Jessica Magestro husband Tommy, and Dustin Rich wife Jessica; a host of grandchildren will remember him fondly for his love and devotion to family, Nolan Cochran, Justin Cochran, Rylan Cochran, Logan Funderburk husband Everette, Lexi Cochran, Sydney Peek, Madison Peek, Jade Magestro, Rocky Magestro, Talan Magestro, Cassidy Kirkland, and Cali Rich; and lifelong bestfriend that served with him in Vietnam, Jack Hoefer.

A service to celebrate Clifford's life will be held at H.I.S. Frontline Ministry, 118 School St., Belmont, NC 28012, on July 13, 2024, at 2pm. A gathering of friends and family will be held one hour prior to the service.

Clifford Neal Cochran Jr. leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a fervent dedication to those closest to him. May his memory live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.
