Claude "Zeke" Vinsant

Claude "Zeke" Vinsant, 81, of Gastonia, passed away April 19, 2016 at Gastonia Care and Rehabilitation.

He was born February 15, 1935 in La Follette, Tenn., the son of the late Emory and Myrtle Vinsant.

Zeke was a member of Yorkwood Church of God, where he was an usher and greeter and also known as Paw-Paw Zeke.

Mr. Vinsant was a veteran of the US Airforce.  He retired from Duke Power as a crane operator.   He enjoyed camping outdoors.  Zeke loved his family and church family and will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife Barbara Lucas Vinsant; sons Marvin and Teddy Vinsant and John Lucas and wife Christy; daughters Jackie Dellinger and husband Ray, Jackie Lucas, Jeanette Mercer and husband Wayne; daughter-in-law Brenda Vinsant; grandchildren Christie Egge, Casey Vinsant, Laura Almond, Christopher Vinsant, Andy and David Mercer, Hank Swayney, Colt Lucas and Chase Messick; 12 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Gene and L.D. Vinsant and sons David and Mike Vinsant.

A funeral service will be held 3 pm Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Yorkwood Church of God, 405 Stagecoach Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Pastors Paul Collins, Kevin B. Jones and Bobby Callaham.

Visitation will be held 1:30 – 2:45 pm prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be in Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
