Clarence H. Harvell

Clarence H. Harvell, 94, of Gastonia, passed away October 4, 2015 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. He was born October 21, 1920, a native of Gaston County, the son of the late Ivy and Ida Harvell. Clarence was a US Army Airforce Veteran who served during WWII. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Clarence enjoyed playing softball and was a Duke Basketball and Yankee Baseball fan. He loved his family and will be greatly missed. Clarence is survived by his son Mike Harvell and wife Jean; grandchildren, Chris Harvell and wife Amy, Chris Marlowe and wife Kelly, Jennifer Lorance, Kim Greene and husband Derek; great-grandchildren Brooklyn Harvell, Heather Gladden, Brandon, Nicholas and Kellie David, Trystan and Wyatt Marlowe, Sydney, Skylar and Aaron Greene and great-great grandchild, Darien Brice. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Shires Harvell; brothers Lonnie, Earl, Basil, Cletus, Torrence and Joe Doil Harvell and grandchild, Kelly Harvell. A funeral service will be held 3 pm Thursday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Gerald Ramsey and Vic Wilfong. The family will receive friends 2 - 3 pm at the funeral home and other times at the house of Mike Harvell, 320 Pam Drive, Gastonia. Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist, 1513 Florida Street, Gastonia, NC 28052. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
