Clara "Mae" Hamrick

Clara "Mae" Cabe Hamrick, 84, of Gastonia, passed away Friday, April 1, 2016, at her residence.

She was born January 1, 1932, in Gaston County, daughter of the late Gudger Thomas Cabe and Rena Burrell Penley.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William Beattie Hamrick; and brothers, Carroll T. Cabe and Charles R. Cabe.

Clara "Mae" was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mrs. Hamrick retired from the Groves Mill, as a spinner, after forty-five years of service. While she loved her time there, she most enjoyed time with her family, making memories that they will all cherish and draw upon for years to come.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers that provided tremendous care and truly became part of her extended family.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Jane H. Martin and husband Jim of Gastonia; Rebecca Anne Goudelock and husband, Steve of Dallas; grandchildren, James Goudelock and wife, Wendy of Dallas, Jennifer Martin Conrad and husband, Peter of Gastonia, Gregory Martin and wife, Amy of McKinney, TX, Scott Martin and wife, Valerie of Los Angeles, CA; and, 8 great grandchildren, Kaden, Lexi, Collin and wife, Lali, Matthew, Katie, Shannon, Hannah, and Colby.

A funeral service will be held 2pm on Tuesday, April 4, at The South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 South York Rd. Gastonia, with The Rev. Raymond Hamrick, Jr officiating.

Entombment will be held at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at Mrs. Hamrick's residence.
