Christopher Michael Jones

Christopher Michael Jones, 56, of Mt. Holly, NC, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023, at his residence.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Jean Lang Jones; son, Alex Tremblay; daughters, Kate Tandukar (Shivy), and Lauryn "Ryn" Jones; stepdaughter, Brooke Grigg; and brother, Daryl Jones (Kathryn).

Chris was born in Dudley NC to Judith and Jack Jones. Growing up, he loved playing baseball with his dad, watching Captain Kangaroo and playing basketball with his younger brother Daryl, and having picnics with his mom. He has always been a dedicated son and brother, and he worked hard to help take care of his family, tending long hours on the tobacco farm and studying intensely in school. His intelligence and perseverance paid off, and he was accepted to UNC Chapel Hill: the first in his family to attend college. Wicked smart, he was naturally on the Dean's List every semester.

He was a loving father, with two wonderful daughters. He also emphasized the importance of staying silly and seeing the funny side in every situation. Chris happily welcomed the girls' cousin, Alex, into his life and loved him like his own. Kate eventually grew up and met her husband Shivy at Georgia Tech, and Chris was ecstatic to gain two more sons, Shivy (Shivangshu) and his little brother Sanu (Shivashish). He loved all his children dearly and taught them to love just as fully. His family expanded further when he married Jean, who his children welcomed with loving arms.

In his professional life, he held 32 years of experience in health-system pharmacy leadership, clinical patient care, consultative sales, contract negotiation and industry relations. He was nationally recognized for award-winning performance in quality, revenue generation, and team building. His diverse pharmaceutical expertise and eloquence equipped him to be a well-established mentor and educator to those with whom he worked. He was also a fun and energetic team member who loved hanging out with his colleagues outside of the office.

Chris loved sports and he shared that passion with his family and friends. He was a fantastic and fun softball coach to Lauryn, and he loved to exchange lifting tips with Kate and challenge her to karate showdowns. Like the rest of the Joneses, Chris was an avid hockey fan "Go Canes". He loved attending games with his brother and kids. He was a focused athlete who ran hundreds of races and relays.

A message from his loving wife Jean:

We have learned from Chris that whatever you want to do, do it now. Life is too short. There are only so many tomorrows. The pain we have of yesterday is the strength of today. Chris, you are my forever. I didn't have much time with you, but felt like a lifetime…until we meet, in the clouds above that I can't touch, I can feel your spirit. You will be in my heart and soul forever. I love you Christopher Michael Jones.
