Gastonia, NC Christine Elizabeth "Libby" Armstrong Allen, born in Gaston County County on June 28, 1952 to the late Leonard and Margaret Cannon Armstrong. Libby's long and courageous battle with COPD and Cancer ended on May 2, 2013 and she was welcomed into her eternal home by her Heavenly Father, earthly father, mother and siblings for a grand reunion we all dream about. She was surrounded by loving family members when she crossed over Jordan. Libby was so blessed, because you see, she had family on both sides. Libby was a member of the Community Pentecostal Center in Stanley, where she attended faithfully when she was physically able to do so. She loved her Heavenly Father more than anything in this world. Her greatest desire in life was to see all her family serving the Father she served. She was preceded in death by: sister, Girlie A. Ward; brothers, Ralph A. Armstrong and Jerry C. Armstrong. Libby was a loving wife to her husband, James Marvin Allen. A loving mother to five sons, Chuck (Wendy) Simmons, Bryan (Kim) Simmons, Craig Simmons all of Stanley, Chad Simmons of Gastonia, Jamie Allen of the home. A loving grandmother to six grandchildren, Elizabeth Simmons of Rineyville,Kentucky, Seth, Brooke and Kenlee Simmons, Kendall and Keaton Bryant all of Stanley. A loving sister to four sisters, Brenda (Glenn) Roberts of Belmont, Kay (William) Lanier of Gastonia, Gaynell (Mack) Ottinger, Ruby (John) Ford of Stanley. A loving aunt to a special niece and caregiver, Kristine Cardell of Gastonia and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. A loving daughter in-law to her mother in-law, Elvie Allen of Grover. A loving mommy to her Maltese, Levi James. Libby's family would like to extend a special thank you to Kristine for being there for her since February 13, 2013 and the special nurses at Gaston Memorial and Hospice. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Libby's life which will be held at 3 pm on Sunday at Community Pentecostal Center, officiated by Pastor Eddie McGinnis and Rev. Mike Roberts.. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday 6-8 pm and other times at the home. Libby will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Gardens, Mt. Holly. Memorials may be made to Community Pentecostal Center, 320 Ralph Handsel Blvd., Stanley, NC 28164. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
