Charles A. Ruff, Sr.

Charles A. Ruff, Sr., 81, of Gastonia passed away May 12, 2018 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 19, 1936, a native of Gaston County, the son of the late Melvin Elijah Ruff and Lucille Peeler Ruff.

Charles was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 38 years, Elsie Zirkle Ruff; son, Allen Ruff and wife, Sherry; daughters, Tami Guin and husband, Steve and Lynn Johnson and husband, Mark; brother, Jim Ruff; sister, Betty Bernisconi; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard and Dan Ruff and sisters, Marie McSwain and Ronnie Wells.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Kevin Summey.

The family will receive friends 5 – 7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
