Charles Edward Roper

Charles Edward Roper, 84, of Kings Mountain, passed away November 30, 2023, at his home.

He was born on October 25, 1939, in Swain County, NC. He was the son of the late Lawrence Roper and Bonnie Chastain Roper.

Charles was a loving, caring and wonderful husband and father who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He retired from the Gastonia City Police Department after 22 years of service and he was awarded the Long Leaf Pine Award two-times for his honorably service.

He was a US Army Veteran who proudly served his country.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Sam Barnette.

The family will receive friends 10-11 prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia, with military and funeral honors provided by The US Army and Gastonia City Police Honor Guard.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Glenda Moore Roper; his son, Brian Roper; brother, Harold Roper.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Cecil Roper.

Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service located at 216 Archie Whitesides Road, Gastonia.
