Charles Rickie "Rick" Monk

Charles Rickie "Rick" Monk, 73, of Gastonia, passed away November 9, 2017 at his residence.
He was born March 19, 1944, a native of Gaston County, the son of the late Lester Eugene Monk and Virginia Pierce Monk.
Rick was a Disabled United States Marines veteran. He loved to cook and was a Pittsburgh Steelers Fan. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling and fishing. He loved his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Ginger N. Monk; sons David Allen Monk of Huntersville, Lester Allen Monk of Belmont; daughter Angela Leslie Monk of Gastonia; step-children Kelly McSwain and Christopher Haney; brother Tom Monk of Clover, SC; grandchildren Taylor, Alex, Haley, Kloe, Zack and Ashlee Monk, Casey McSwain, Brandon Newton, Jerry Frye, Gabe McSwain, Justin and Cameron Haney; great-grandkids Kharma McSwain and Tristan Frye.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Ronnie Monk; sister Linda Lou Monk; sons Charles Rickie Monk and Rickie Charles Monk.
A funeral service will be held 2 pm Monday, November 13, 2017 at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. David Niemeyer.
The family will receive friends 6 – 8 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial with military honors by Gaston County Honor Guard, will be in the Veterans Section of Gaston Memorial Park.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium.
