Charles Ray Mayhue, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on August 8, 2024, at the age of 77 in Gastonia, North Carolina.
Born on January 14, 1947, Charles was a hardworking laborer in the scrap metal industry, dedicating his life to providing for his family. He loved music and played bass guitar with the Songsters Quartet, the Gospelettes, and many other groups.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Catherine; his children Scott Mayhue and wife Barbara, Karen Haney and husband Joe, and Darlene Helms and husband Gerald; stepchildren, Ike Crisp and wife Kristie, and Tori Mills and husband Steve, and Sarah Crisp; sisters, Patsy Randolph and Naomi Butler; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Brandon, Joshua, Casey, Joe Ray, Ike, Tori, Sarah, R. J., Zaria (caregiver), Katie, Steven, Amanda, Coda, Kylie, Nova, Ava, River, Adalyn, Levi, Jordan, Ashleigh, Evie Peach, Shadrach, Crispin, Aiden, Oliver, Bjorn, and Cyrus. His family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
A service to celebrate the life of Charles will be held August 13, 2024, at 2:00 pm, at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia, NC.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Ethel Mayhue; brothers, Troy, Edsel, Junior; and sisters, Faye and Peggy, great grandson, Jasper Alexander.
