Charles "Larry" Kelly, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, at the age of 75. He was born on October 15, 1950, in Gaston County,North Carolina. Larry dedicated his life to his faith, family and friends. He is remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering support, and the joy he brought to the lives of those who knew him.
A member of Crowders Mountain Baptist Church, Larry exemplified a spirit of giving, embodying warmth and kindness wherever he went. He never met a stranger and always made those around him feel welcomed and cherished. His true passion lay in spending time with his family, particularly during their cherished trips to the beach, where laughter and love flourished.
Outside of his family life, Larry found joy in bowling, fishing, playing horseshoes, and watching football. His enthusiasm for NASCAR races brought him together with friends and family alike, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
A visitation will be held at Greene Funeral Service - West Chapel , 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia, on February 9, 2026, at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am officiated by Rev. Larry Laws. All who knew Charles are invited to join in honoring his life and legacy. He will be laid to rest at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery surrounded by the love of his family and friends, a testament to a life well-lived.
Larry leaves behind his devoted wife of 37 years, Vivian Kelly; his children,Iris Smith (Michael), Charles Allen (Susan), Amy McCaslin, Beverly Woody; brothers, Bobby Kelly, Ricky Kelly (Judy; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother Sarah Loretta Robinson, father, Edgar Lee Kelly; daughter, Darinda LaRae Kelly; brothers, Billy William Robinson, Jimmy Boyd Eaves.
May his memory continue to inspire kindness, love, and a deep appreciation for the moments we share with one another.
