Charles Ray Helms, 68, of Gastonia, passed away September 27, 2018 at his residence.
He was born July 16, 1950, a native of Gaston County, the son of the late James Helms and Willie Sanders Helms.
Charles was a former employee of Sodyeco and Hoechst Celenese in Mt. Holly. He loved to ride his Harley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Annette Helms; daughters, Sondra McDowell of Kings Mountain, Donna Sides of Mt. Holly, Cindy Laster of Bessemer City, Kelly Helms of Dallas, Crissy Helms of Cramerton and Karen and Sara Helms of Gastonia; stepchildren, Angela Bell, Ashley Dills and David Long; sister, Juanita Kirk and Sylvia Cloninger; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Helms and grandson, Jeremy Barber.
The family will receive friends 6 – 8 pm Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Sandy Plains Baptist Church, 5323 Union Road, Gastonia.
