Charles Laddy Gilbert

Charles Laddy Gilbert, 81, of Gastonia, passed away January 1, 2016 at his residence.

He was born March 11, 1934, a native of Gaston County, the son of the late John and Bertie Gilbert.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Scott and Rudy Gilbert.

Mr. Gilbert was retired from the City of Gastonia as a lineman and was employed by T & L Trucking.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 56 years, Wayburn Guffie Gilbert; son, Ray Gilbert; daughters, Denise Miller and Sandra McCarthy; stepsons, Dennis Teague and Steve Gilbert; stepdaughters, Charlene Short, Linda Faye Threadgill, and Mary Sue McIntyre; sisters, Dorothy Hudson and Johnnie Mae Morton; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Joan Grigg, will be held 2 pm Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Trinity Church of the Living God, 119 Kristie Lane, Kings Mountain.

The family will receive friends 6 – 8 pm Tuesday at the church.

Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Gastonia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Church of the Living God, Barn Fund, 119 Kristie Lane, Kings Mountain, NC 28086.
