Charles "Rabbit" Leonard Clary, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, peacefully passed away on July 27, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on February 1, 1940, in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Charles was a lifelong resident of the area and etched a legacy of love, simplicity, and hard work in the hearts of those who knew him.
Charles dedicated his life as a material handler in the tool manufacturing industry, where he was respected for his unwavering commitment and diligent work ethic.
As a devoted husband to Betty and proud father and grandfather, Charles cherished every moment shared with his family. Simple joys, like family vacations, brightened his life, and he instilled in his loved ones the importance of family bonds and creating cherished memories together. He was a man who never complained, always finding joy in the little things, and his calm demeanor will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, July 31, 2026, at Westview Gardens, 1123 Edgewood Road Bessemer City. The family encourages all who knew Charles to join them in remembering the beautiful impact he made in their lives.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Proctor Clary; son, Paul Black; daughters, Donna McDaniel (Larry), Beverly Estes (Terry); sister, Christine Broome; grandchildren, Tess, Dessraie, Julia, Trevor; great-grandchildren, Madilyn Rose, and Chase; and nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, George Clary and Ruth Collins Clary; daughter, Kim Simonds; granddaughter, Jessica Simonds; brothers, Fred Clary, W. T. Clary; sisters Maybellne Merck, Juanita Bolin, Annie Oliver.
In honoring and supporting one another through this time, let us celebrate the life of a man who gave so generously of himself and loved his family with all his heart. May he rest in peace.
