It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Vinson Cates, a beloved husband, father, and brother. Born on July 3, 1941, in Tennessee and passed away at Caromont Regional Medical center on November 5, 2024

Charles was a hardworking man, dedicating many years to his career as a truck driver for 62 years in the trucking industry, where he made countless memories and friends along the way. Charles was a sweet Southern Gentleman!

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Marcia Diane Cates, his daughters Susan Cates and Pamela Abbott, son-in-law Bob Abbott, and sister, Evelyn Hicks. Five Grandchildren and Seven Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Charles will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

A memorial service in honor of Charles will be held at the Greene Funeral Service South Chapel on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 11:00 am. Officiated by Rev. Brad Vassey. Please join us in celebrating the life and legacy of Charles Vinson Cates, a man who brought joy and love to all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Lizzie Cantrell Cates, Daughter Beverly Holt, Brothers Harvey Cates Jr., Bob Cates, Gary Cates, Mackie Eaton, sister Charlotte Craig.
