Cathy Jean Walker

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cathy Jean Walker, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed from this world on September 5, 2026, at the age of 74. Cathy was born on August 1, 1952, and spent her life in Gastonia.

Cathy had a true passion for life. She found immense joy in gardening, nurturing her beloved plants and flowers with the same love and care she extended to those around her. Cooking was another of her passions; her kitchen had the laughter of family gathered for holiday celebrations. Each holiday was a cherished occasion for Cathy, and she created lasting memories that will be treasured by her loved ones. She was very proud Maw Maw to her beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved her annual birthday crab seafood boil dinner.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents James and Naomi Collins; her loving husband of 40 years, Herman Walker; sisters, Patsy and Linda.

She is survived by her children, Dawn Walker (Todd Smith), Angela Walker (Buster Bruce), Dusty Walker (Roslyn Walker); grandchildren, Cassie, Amber, Austin, Colton; great grandchildren, Juliann, Abigail, Mason, Addison, MaKayla, Corbyn, Easton, and Lakelyn.

The visitation will be held from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd Gastonia, NC 28052. The funeral service will be held Friday, September 11, 2026 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Lawndale, NC.
