Catherine Rebecca "Becky" Russell, 80, of Bessemer City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026. Born on October 3, 1945, in Sylacauga, Alabama, daughter of the late William McNeal and Annie Green McNeal. Becky grew up and was raised in the town of Opelika where she graduated high school there and had so many precious memories of her hometown.


Becky cultivated a successful career in the finance industry, retiring after 22 years of dedicated service with HSBC. Her professional life was marked by her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence, embodying the qualities of reliability and integrity in all her endeavors.

Becky was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be remembered for her deep love of family, especially her grandchildren, with whom she cherished spending time. Her family was her pride and joy, and she created countless memories that will be treasured by those who knew her best. Becky had a passion for travel, and was an avid gardener, which only added to the rich tapestry of her life. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling. An exceptional cook, she delighted her family and friends with her culinary skills, and delicious meals that brought everyone together around the dinner table.

Becky is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Charles Russell; sons, Charles "Chuck" Russell Jr. (Michelle), William Tray Russell; grandchildren, Jacob Owen Russell, Austen Cole Russell; great-grandchild, Carter Rayne Russell; sister, Faye Parker; niece, Jill Parker; nephew, Johnny Parker.


A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Westview Gardens 1123 Edgewood Road, Bessemer City, North Carolina, where family and friends will gather to honor her life and legacy.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association 222 South Church St, Suite 303 Charlotte, NC 28202 or heart.org in Becky's name, reflecting her generous spirit and commitment to community.

Her passing leaves a void that will be felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing her and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life.
