Catherine "Maw" Mcabee

Gastonia, NC Catherine "Maw" McAbee, 94, passed away November 6, 2012, at her home. She was born September 16, 1918 in Danville, VA. daughter of the late John and Bernice Wilkie Cloninger. "Maw" lived a long, full life and loved her family dearly. She was a loving grandmother to everyone who knew her. The family sends a special thanks to the staff of Meadowwood Nursing Center, especially, Tamara Deal and the staff of Gaston Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. A funeral service will be held 2pm on Thursday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. The family will receive friends 3-5 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. The interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia. She is survived by: her sister, Yancey Turner of Gastonia; grandchildren and their spouses, Gerald "Butch" and Melinda McAbee of Gastonia, Jonathan and Cheryl McAbee of Gastonia, Michael McAbee of Gastonia; 12 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband, Gerald Wayne McAbee; son, Gerald Reid McAbee; granddaughter, Cathy Perry; brother, Don Cloninger; sister, Mildred Autry.
