Catherine Bingham

Catherine Bingham "Cat", 79, of Gastonia, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on  Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.

She was born in Gaston County, NC on March 17, 1944, to the late Gordon R. Bingham and Ruby Bingham Wilson.

Cat loved the Lord with all of her heart and served Him faithfully. Cat was a loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother, Sister & Aunt. She was always encouraging and supportive, and had a laugh and smile that would light up a room. She was very proud and supportive of her children, loved her grandchildren and loved all her family.  Cat was a faithful member of Sparrow Springs Baptist Church in Gastonia. She was a member and lead singer of the original Gospel Tones out of Gastonia.  Cat worked at Easco, Homelight, and WKMT radio station where she worked as a disc jockey.   She was an avid collector of all – especially angels and Barbies.  Cat loved football, especially the  San Francisco 49ers and Quarterback Joe Montana.  She was a devoted fan of Elvis and could sing his songs to you.

Cat was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Don Bingham and sister Joann Bingham Styles.

Cat is survived by her daughter, Lisa Busha and husband Dr. Seth Jaffe; sons, Ronnie Busha and wife Lisa M., and Kenneth Busha and wife Tracey; sisters, Barbara Cantrell & Geraldine Mayberry; grandchildren, Tanner Busha and Garin Neese (Morgan). Sister in law Sharon Bingham, many nieces and nephews and former husband and father to her children, Herman Busha.

A celebration of Cat's life will be at 12:00 pm, Saturday, January 13, 2024, Rev. Jeff Nichols officiating at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 South York Road, Gastonia, NC 28052.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Cat's honor to Levine's Ronald McDonald House.
