Carolyn Dougan Somerset

Carolyn Dougan Somerset, 72, of Clover, SC, passed away December 1, 2014 at her residence. She was born November 22, 1942 in Gaston County, daughter of the late William Ira Dougan and Margie Quinn Dougan. Carolyn attended Union Baptist Church in Filbert, SC and retired as a school teacher for over 37 years with Gaston County school system. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Somerset of the home; son, Christopher Somerset and wife, Melissa of Bessemer City; brother, Randy Dougan and wife, Gail of Bessemer City; cousin, Helen Boyd and husband, Ronald of Gastonia; grandchildren, Dalton and Cameron Somerset; step-grandchildren, Tyler and Morgan Black; sister-in-laws, Marie Dougan of Bessemer City and Frances Dougan of Blacksburg, SC. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Donald and John Dougan. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Thursday at Greene Funeral Service - West Chapel - 216 Archie Whitesides Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Ray Long. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
