Carolyn Lineberger Ray

Carolyn Lineberger Ray, 87, of Bessemer City, NC, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025, at her residence.

She was born March 15, 1937, a native of Gaston Co, NC, daughter of the late Earl and Margaret Lineberger.

Carolyn was a retired teacher with Gaston County Schools for 33 years, and Lincoln County Schools for 6 years. She was strong in her faith, and was very active in her church. She was a Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher, and youth group leader.

Her love of nature was boundless. She could show you so much about nature and its wonders. She loved reading, crosswords, baking, and cross stitch. She loved music and dancing. She was always singing or humming a song. Her love for her family was without boundaries. From singing songs together, to playing with natures "critters", her grandchildren and then great-grandchildren stayed amazed with all her knowledge of God's creation.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Ray; and brother, Larry Lineberger.

She is survived by her children, Richard Ray (Melinda), and Michelle Gass (Rick); brother, Earl Lineberger, Jr. (Charlene); special baby boy, Mervin Cloninger; grandchildren, Keith Null, Kevin Null (Melissa), Chris Gerard (Beverly), Jessica "Nikki" Page (Chris), Brittany Christopher (Jon Boy), Elizabeth Carrigan (Clay), Ashley Dennis (Tyler), Rebecca Null, and Samantha Cook (Tyler); great-grandchildren, Alana Christopher, Alyssa Christopher, Dakota Null, Jakob Null, Greg Null, Alicia Null, Mason Page, Logan Gerard, Ava Tackett, Levi Christopher, Blaise Fisher, Nolan Carrigan, Scarlett Carrigan, Addison Gerard, Rowan Dennis, Mathias Carrigan, and Tatum Cook; godson, Chad Matthews; and numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Family will receive friends 5:00-8:00pm, Friday, January 31, 2025, at Antioch Lutheran Church - 330 Old NC 277 Loop Rd, Dallas, NC 28034. A funeral service officiated by Rev. Rebecca Foster, will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the church. Burial will follow the service at the church cemetery.
