Carolyn Callahan Kuykendall

Carolyn Callahan Kuykendall, 88, of Grover, NC, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023, at Wendover Hospice in Shelby, NC.

She was born in Cleveland County on December 2, 1935, to the late Ralph and Vera Callahan.

Carolyn attended Midview Baptist Church after many years of being a member at Bread of Life Baptist Church. She was a registered nurse for 10 years at Shelby Hospital and retired after 31 years from Kings Mountain Hospital.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn "Kirk" Kuykendall Sr.; son, Larry Kuykendall; several brothers and a sister.

Carolyn is survived by her son, Pastor Ed Kuykendall (Sharon); daughters, Kelly Barnaby (Ron), Wendy Harmon; sister, Patricia "Tissie" McCullough; son, Mitchell McKinney (Ruby); thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service officiated by Pastor Michael Rote, will be held Monday, December 18, 2023, 3:00 pm, at the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd, Gastonia, NC 28052. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Westview Gardens Cemetery in Bessemer City.
