Carolyn "Sue" Absher Lovelace, 67, of Bessemer City, passed away on April 17, 2021, at Augusta University Medical Center, Augusta, Georgia.
She was born July 14, 1953, in Gaston County, daughter of the late Will Ervin Absher and Bonnie Bridges Absher.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Will Ervin Absher Jr. and his wife Susan Absher.
Sue worked for Curtain and Drapery Fashions and Gaston Skills. Her love for animals led to her to become a veterinary technician where she cared for animals at Ironton Animal Hospital.
She was an active member of Long Creek Presbyterian Church, where she loved to work with the youth, singing in the choir and enhancing the church flower gardens.
She loved to find new plants in nature, sew, crochet and garden. She also loved horseback riding and showing. She shared her love of horses with her family and many members in her community by teaching them to ride.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Long Creek Presbyterian Church, Kings Mountain, officiated by the Rev. Charles Davenport and the Rev. Jason Davenport.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6 -8 pm Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at Greene Funeral Service , West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia.
Sue is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Hal Lovelace; her children, Beth Lovelace Cole (Dave), and Alex Lovelace; two grandchildren, James and Sara Cole; her sister, Nancy A. England; her brother, David J. Absher; godson, Nicholas Ramseur, all of Bessemer City; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Long Creek Presbyterian Church, 701 Long Creek , Kings Mountain, NC 28086.
