Carol Sue Grady

Carol Sue Grady, 67, of Bessemer City, NC, passed away peacefully at home on October 28, 2026, surrounded by her family. Carol suffered from Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, a rare neurodegenerative brain disorder.

Carol was born in Norfolk, VA, on June 22, 1959, the youngest of four children to the late Lois Spurgeon McLeod and Julian (Mac) McLeod Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Grady, Jr.

 Carol is survived by many loving family members who will treasure her memory always: (children with Wayne Murray)- son, Zachary Murray (Amelia), of Olympia, WA, and daughter, Courtney Murray Price (Chris), of Gastonia, NC. Grandchildren: Aspen Murray, London Murray, Zoey DeRoss and Nicholas Price. Her step-children (with Gerald Grady)- step-daughter Dana Terry and step-son Shannon Grady with 7 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren. Carol's siblings: Nancy (John) Floyd, Jimmy (Judy) McLeod, and Patricia (Wyman) Oxner. Many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family Wayne and Robin Murray.

Carol loved the Lord, her family, the beach, being pool side, dogs and horses. She enjoyed a long career in accounting for different companies; the last several years working remotely from home. Carol was a former member of First Baptist Church in Mooresville, NC.

A family and friends visitation will be held at Greene Funeral Home on Saturday, November 7th, from 2pm - 4pm. Greene Funeral Home and Crematorium in Gastonia, NC and the Prion Society of Cleveland, OH, are assisting the family at this very difficult time.
