Carol Ann Fogarty

Carol Eshenbaugh Fogarty passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2025 to join her beloved husband, John Fogarty. Carol was born in Washington DC to Katie and Paul Eshenbaugh in 1939 and lived most of her life in Hickory, NC where she graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University with both a BS and MS Degree. In addition to raising a family in Hickory, she taught at Hiddenite Elementary School for nearly 30 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Doris. Those cherishing her memory include her son John of St. Louis, son David and wife Christine of Gastonia, brother Paul of Darnestown, MD, four grandchildren, Erin, Muriel, Abby and Shane, and great-grandchild, Axton.

Carol was an avid reader and gardener and enjoyed many traveling adventures. She also enjoyed going to the gym in Hickory and having lunch with friends, such as Julia and P.M. Carol's cat, Rascal, will continue to be loved by relatives.

In her final years, she moved to Gastonia to be near family. The family is thankful to the Morningside Assisted Living staff and Carolina Caring Hospice for their kindness in Carol's final months. The family will honor her life in a private ceremony.
