Calvin Webb Waters

Gastonia, NC- Calvin Webb " Dub" Waters, 84, of Gastonia, passed away February 3, 2014 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. He was born February 15, 1929 in Clover, SC son of the late, Joseph Lawson Waters, Sr. and Pearl Capps Waters. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Calvin was a member and Church Deacon of Ridge Baptist Church, Gastonia. He worked at WIX for 42 years. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday at Ridge Baptist Church, 3818 Old York Rd. Gastonia, NC 28056. The visitation will be held 7 - 9 pm on Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. Interment will be at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Gastonia. Calvin is survived by his son, Carlton Rodney Waters and wife, Tammy of Kings Mountain; daughters, Martha Gail Postell and husband, Barry of Gastonia, Libby Elonia Cody and husband, Bobby of Gastonia; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Jerrie Miller Waters, daughter, Ethel Dine "Scootsie" Waters; brothers, Elvis, J.L.and Charles Waters; sisters, Lettie Manning, Margaret Peeler, Leola Waters, Betty Page and Frances Carroll. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Ridge Baptist Church, 3818 Old York Rd. Gastonia, NC 28056. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
