Calvin Wayne "Papa Smurf" Moody

Calvin Wayne "Papa Smurf" Moody, 70, of Gastonia, passed away May 5, 2016 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 27, 1945, a native of Gaston County, the son of the late Calvin Ralph and Millie Moody.

Wayne was a member of Rustic Hills Baptist Church.  He loved his family and his fur baby, Coco.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of over 36 years Dale Moody; son, Michael Taylor and wife Laura; daughters Norma Jean Barber and husband Joey; Donna Taylor and fiancé Jeff; sisters Jackie Bazzle and Jeri Nations; five grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Charles Moody.

A memorial service, officiated by the Rev. Jason Dowdell, will be held at 1 pm Thursday, May 12th at Rustic Hills Baptist Church, 101 Rustic Hills Circle, Bessemer City.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
