Byron Braswell

Byron Braswell, 66, of Gastonia, passed away April 7, 2018 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 24, 1951, a native of Gaston County, the son of the late Johnnie Henry Braswell and Lessie Wynes Braswell.

Byron was a member of South Gastonia Church of God.  He loved the Lord and his family. He loved hosting Easter egg hunts and fall festivals for the children of the church.  He was an elder and greeter at the church for many years.  He enjoyed breeding and training champion hunting dogs.  He also enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, fishing and gardening.  He was an avid outdoorsman.

Survivors include his loving wife of over 48 years Janice Leggett Braswell; daughters Amy Braswell and Beth Braswell; brother Ted Braswell and wife June; sisters Margaret Walker and Barbara Dean Raxter and numerous nieces, nephews and many "bonus children".

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Gerald, Johnnie Lee, Marvin and Ray Braswell and sisters Naomi Rogers and Brenda Farr.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastors Bobby Gilley and Sam Barnette, will be held at 3 pm Friday, April 13, 2018 at South Gastonia Church of God.

The family will receive friends between the hours of 6 – 9 pm on Thursday at the church.

Burial will be in Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Gastonia Church of God, 310 Carolina Avenue, Gastonia, NC 28052.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
