Burl Brown Jr.

Burl Brown Jr., 89, of Kings Mountain, passed away January 14, 2017 at Stanley

Total Living Center.

He was born January 29, 1927 in Cherokee County, NC, son of the late Burl and

Lela Brown.

Mr. Brown was a wonderful father and grandfather.

He never met a stranger, and was a friend to all.

Burl loved to travel, but never forgot his family roots and enjoyed family reunions.

He enjoyed bee keeping and was a weekend farmer.
He was a veteran of the US Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, to whom

he was a devoted husband for 67 years; also preceding him in death were his

brothers, Morris and Don.

Left to cherish his memories are his sons Steve Brown and wife, Kay, Tim Brown

and wife Nancy; daughter Deborah Barker and husband Jerry; brother, Eugene

Brown; sister, Winona Owenby; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two

great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm Wednesday, January 18, at Greene Funeral

Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd., Gastonia

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the

service.
Interment will be in Westview Gardens with military honors.

Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium,

Gastonia.
