Bunzie Harrison Benge

Bunzie Harrison Benge, a cherished member of the Gastonia community, sadly passed away on July 4, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on April 5, 1946, in Copperhill TN.  Bunzie was a loving grandmother to her grandson, Kyle Worthy. She was also survived by her son in law, Randy Murphy and many nieces and nephews.

Known for her love of family and passion for bingo in Clover, SC, Bunzie also enjoyed spending her free time coloring on her iPad. She loved attending her church, Bethel Baptist, and she spent much of her time hanging out with her beloved dog, Max, who would watch the news with her.  She pursued her education and earned an Associate's Degree after retiring from working as a packer in the textiles industry.

A gathering of friends and family will be held at the South Chapel of Green Funeral Service, Tuesday July 9, 2024, between 7pm to 9pm. A celebration of her life will be held the next day, Wednesday, at the funeral home, at 10 am. Burial will follow at Armstrong Cemetery, Gastonia.

Bunzie's warm spirit and love will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.

Bunzie was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Elsie Harrison; first husband Bobby Benge; second husband, Talmadge Benge; daughter, Dr. Teresa Worthy and numerous brothers and sisters.
