Buddy Thornburg

Buddy Thornburg, 63, of Dallas, passed away April 26, 2018 at Carolinas Healthcare System, Lincolnton.

He was born January 16, 1955, a native of Gaston County, the son of Bobby Loy Thornburg and Sarah Lytton Thornburg.

Buddy was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.  He loved his family, dirt-track racing, hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife of over 45 years, Rose Mary Stone Thornburg; son, Jon-Thomas Charles Thornburg and wife Deanna; daughter, Jerri Christine Ross and husband Wayne Lee; grandchildren, Cody Alexander Fleming, Aubree Laine Thornburg, Lexie Lynn Thornburg; great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Rylan, Connor and Adeline Ross; and sisters, Vickie Gail Brannon, Jane Clemmer and Jean McSwain and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jackie Buchanan.

A celebration of life service, officiated by Pastor Steven Weaver will be held 4 pm Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Walnut Grove Baptist Church – 3400 Dallas Cherryville Hwy., Dallas.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
