Buddy Ronald "Carp Man" Sawyer

Gastonia, NC -

Buddy Ronald Sawyer "Carp Man", 73, entered eternal rest in the arms of God on Sunday, June 24, 2018, surrounded by his family.

He was born August 22, 1944, native to Gaston County, the son of the late Phillip Franklin Sawyer and Peggy Lucille Miller Sawyer.

Buddy was a child of God.  He was an excellent artist, an avid fisherman, hunter and all-around outdoorsman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jewell Sawyer; children, Teresa Teague, Betty Bingham and husband John, Phillip Sawyer and wife Dawn and Bo Webb; siblings, Bill Sawyer, Fredia Harvey and husband Barry and Linda Jordon; 7 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; honorary sons, Jeff Cook and Mike Hyslop; and honorary brother, Benny Gibby.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim and Donald Sawyer; sister, Helen Thrift; brother-in-law, Ervin Thrift; and mother-in-law, Ruby Mullinax.

A celebration of life service, officiated by Benny Gibby and Jeff Cook will be held 2 pm, Sunday, July 1, 2018 at the home of Shannon Dellinger, 105 Maxine Court, Kings Mountain, NC.

Visitation will follow the service until 6 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family of Mr. Sawyer, 411 E. Davidson Avenue, Gastonia, NC 28054.
