Brenda Joyce Waycaster

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brenda Joyce Waycaster, who left us peacefully on May 30, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on January 22, 1947, in Buncombe County, North Carolina, she lived her last years in Grover, NC.

Brenda began her career at just 17 years old, working as a phone operator for Southern Bell before transitioning into the world of technology as a software programmer for AT&T in the telephone communications industry. Her talent and tenacity set her apart, and she made many lifelong friends along the way.

Brenda grew up as a member of the Methodist Church, where she cherished her faith and the community it brought her. She also had a special place in her heart for her beloved dogs, who brought joy and companionship into her life.

Brenda is survived by her loving husband, Richard Waycaster, sisters, Rebecca Lynn Bunch and Debbie Allison (Don); brothers, Steve Steppe (Tampa) and Douglas Steppe (Debra); step children, Regina Parker (Shane), Amanda Fuller (Billy), Brian Waycaster (Kim) and Eric Waycaster (Carla); 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Brenda's life at a memorial service on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Love Valley Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, NC.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Barbara Eloise Steppe; siblings, Skip Steppe and Kenny Steppe.

Brenda will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
