Brenda Joyce Hawkins

Brenda Joyce Railey Hawkins, 84, of Gastonia, NC, passed away on January 19, 2025. Born on November 4, 1940, in Sullivan County, Tennessee, Brenda lived a life filled with love, family, and a passion for cooking. She was the proud owner of Porky's Grill, where she delighted many with her delicious meals and warm hospitality.

Brenda's creativity didn't stop in the kitchen; she also loved to color, finding joy and relaxation in bringing vibrant designs to life. She was a hardworking woman who spent many years as a winder in the textile industry, showing determination and resilience throughout her life.

Brenda is survived by her beloved daughter, Lori Moses and grandson, Christopher Jay Thomas, who will carry forward her vibrant spirit and love of family.

Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Hawkins Jr; parents, Claude Railey and Sally Underwood Hawkins; son, Donald Eugene Thomas.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Brenda's life at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 PM. She will be laid to rest shortly after the service at Armstrong Cemetery.

Brenda will be missed by all who knew her, but her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
