Brenda Joyce Barrett

Brenda Joyce Barrett, 75, of Stanley, passed away Friday, July 14, 2023, at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, NC.

She was born November 12, 1947, in Mecklenburg County to the late James & Mildred Dickerson.

Brenda, also known by her handle "Southern Star" was a truck driver for many years. Her and her husband Daniel drove from coast to coast, enjoying each other's company while working. She loved her children and grandchildren, spending a lot of time with them. She was the strongest woman you will ever have met and always giving.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Dawn Bryson; grandchildren, Brittany & Heather Johnson; and all her siblings.

Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Daniel "Dan" Franklin Barrett; son, Bucky Stone (Angie); daughters, Sosha Barrett (Jeremiah Cathy), Melissa Cope, Tonya Johnson (Will Hodges); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A private Celebration of life will be held by the family.
