Boyce James Rimmer, 83, of Gaffney, SC, passed away October 26, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 20, 1930 in Statesville, son of the late Raymond Riley and Texie Rimmer. Boyce was a veteran of the US Army who served during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany for two years where he served in a military hospital. A funeral service will be held 3 pm on Wednesday at Grace Baptist Church, 2200 Auten Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Joe Hensley. Visitation will be 1:30 - 3:00 pm Wednesday prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Armstrong Cemetery. Boyce is survived by his loving wife of over 25 years, Pauline "Polly" Rimmer of the home; children, Mark Rimmer and wife Samantha, Paula Higdon and husband Jesse and Patsy Lewis, all of Gastonia; grandchildren, Bobby, Zac, Krissy, Jessica, Blake, Ryan, David, Chasity, Audra, Misty, Dylan and Caleb; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson;2 step-grandchildren;5 step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-greatgrandson; brothers, Ed Rimmer and wife, Bobbie, Jerry Rimmer, Don Rimmer and wife, Louise and sister, Betty Lemmons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Audrey Millwood Rimmer; brothers, Pete and Homer; sisters, Mildred, Inez and Hazel; children, Penny Rimmer Badger and Michael Rimmer. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris St., Greenville, SC 29605. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
